FIRE HAZARD
Because of the characteristics of the forest stands, most of the Sulechów Forest District area has a high level of fire hazard. The forests of the forest district are classified as belonging to the I (highest) category of the fire hazard.
The Sulechów Forest District is located within the scope of activity of four stations of State Fire Service:
- Municipal Headquarter of the State Fire Service in Zielona Góra;
- District Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Świebodzin;
- District Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Nowa Sól;
- District Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Krosno Odrzańskie.
The damages caused by the fires are often immeasurable. They cause serious nature losses. In the fires, many species of meadow and forest flora and fauna die. Between 2000 and 2009 there were 393 fires in the area of the Sulechów Forest District on a total area of 43.03 hectares.
